BSF Foils Smuggling Attempt, Arrests Three Suspected Smugglers in Punjab

The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted a smuggling bid in Punjab’s Amritsar and apprehended three smugglers who were attempting to abscond with a consignment of heroin, seizing a total of 525 grams of the narcotic substance.

According to BSF, a special operation was initiated based on specific information near Village Dhanoe Kalan, District Amritsar, on December 24, 2023. Upon observing movement in a farming field, two suspects were seen, followed by the sound of a dropped consignment after drone activity. Swift action led to the arrest of the smugglers who were trying to escape with the heroin package wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and attached to a string ring.

Subsequent revelations by the arrested smugglers led to the apprehension of a third accomplice. The vigilant BSF troops effectively foiled yet another narcotics smuggling attempt, as detailed in the BSF release.

In a separate joint operation earlier, BSF and Punjab Police recovered a ‘Quadcopter’ DJI Mavic 3 Classic model drone and an approximately 540-gram packet of suspected heroin from a farming field adjacent to Village Bhaini Rajputana in Amritsar. The operation was conducted following specific information about the presence of a drone.

During the search operation on December 23, the authorities discovered the drone along with a package containing suspected heroin, weighing 540 grams, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and attached to the drone in the farming field near Village Bhaini Rajputana, as stated in the official release.
