Brother Arrested in Budgam Murder: J-k Police Solve Blind Murder Case
On Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir Police reported a successful resolution to a blind murder case, revealing that a man has been apprehended for the murder of his brother in the central Kashmir district of Budgam.
A spokesperson for the Police disclosed that on November 20th, they received information about the lifeless body of Sameer Ahmad Rather, aged 18/19, a laborer from Sail Beerwah found behind his residence. “Promptly responding to the situation, an investigation was launched, with the active involvement of the Beerwah police station and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams.”

“Numerous suspects, including family members of the deceased, were brought in for questioning. During the interrogation of the family, Aqib Ahmad Rather, Sameer’s brother, admitted to his involvement. Aqib disclosed a confrontation between the brothers that occurred during the night of November 19th and 20th, resulting in Sameer’s tragic death. The father and sister of the deceased also confessed, providing additional details about Aqib Ahmad’s role.”
“Aqib was subsequently arrested, and a comprehensive investigation ensued, leading to the recovery of crucial evidence, including the weapon used by Aqib to assault Sameer,” the spokesperson stated.
He further mentioned that a case has been registered as FIR No. 143/2023 under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
