
BREAKING: PM Modi Leaves for 4-Day Visit to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan
NEW DELHI, AUGUST 29 [VoM News]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday embarked on a two-nation visit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to cement ties and deepen strategic engagement in Central Asia.

Modi will first travel to Tashkent for two days at the invitation of his Uzbek counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. His talks with Mirziyoyev, in accordance with Modi’s departure statement, will aim at expanding trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence and energy cooperation.
Modi will also visit the Mahatma Gandhi Centre and the Shastri Memorial at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, signifying India’s historical links with Uzbekistan.
The Prime Minister is visiting Uzbekistan for the fourth time. He has paid one bilateral visit in 2015 and attended SCO summits in 2016 and 2022.
From Uzbekistan, Modi will depart for Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 26th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on September 15-16 at the invitation of his Kyrgyz host, President Sadyr Japarov. This summit is significant as it celebrates 25 years of the regional organisation.
India, according to Modi, will work with other SCO nations to foster a region based on security, connectivity and opportunity and to combat challenges of terrorism, extremism and separatism.
Modi will also be a part of the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games, the sixth edition this year.
India became a full member of the SCO in June 2017 and has continuously supported strengthening the organisation’s capabilities.
