BREAKING: Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra Says ‘I Will Earn Again’
New Delhi, Aug 29 (VoM News): Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra says he might work with professionals dealing with investments in Switzerland and may borrow Rs 2-4 crore from his family to make investments in startup companies, a day after the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) allowed a payment scheme that would allow creditors to get only a part of the total money claimed.
“I am at a phase of my life where I will do a new start to my professional life and in that direction… I still aim and desire to do something,” the 75-year old said. He added he was not broke.
“There’s no room for bankruptcy in life and work. Today I’m talking in a very plain language, not in language of a person who is financially broke but of a person who had gone through ups and downs but is now at a next phase, starting new things,” Chandra said in a video message, adding the remainingRs 6.5crores will be used as per the allowed repayment plan.
“It’s part of this entire deal which is approved by NCLT. My living will be with the rent coming from a small residential house I possess. No remorse; I am not a man who have nothing to do or a man who has lost everything. I have and will continue to earn. It will be me a pioneer with innovative thoughts, doing positive good and doing nice new things,” he said.
Chandra pointed that his priority would be to join hands with friends working in investment field in Switzerland. “For the immediate future, right now I plan to associate myself with some people there in Switzerland who deals with investment work. I shall share the details within one, two weeks,” Chandra said adding that for the future he may also raise a loan Rs 2 toRs 4crores from family members to support investment into the startups which may have potential growth.
His statements came after the National Company Law Tribunal has accepted the payment plan allowing the stakeholders to get approximatelyRs 6.50crores against the claim of nearlyRs 22,006.57crores in total from creditors.
This is nearly 0.03 percent of the money owed in claims as creditors face nearly 99.97%haircut. Chandra’s Essel Group interests range from media to infrastructure and amusement parks, and his group of companies has seen a number of selloffs in recent times.
