BJP President Sukanta Majumdar Removed During Sit-In Outside Sandeshkhali Police Station
West Bengal BJP president, Sukanta Majumdar, staged a sit-in outside Sandeshkhali police station, demanding the arrest of TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh. After being forcibly removed by law enforcers and transported away on a boat, Majumdar insisted on staying in the area until all BJP workers, arrested in Sandeshkhali, are released. The region has been marked by protests over alleged sexual assault on women and land-grabbing. Earlier in the week, the Calcutta High Court’s intervention allowed opposition party leaders, including BJP and CPI(M), to visit the strife-torn area. Majumdar had sustained injuries during a protest related to Sandeshkhali on February 14.
