Bhaderwah Blanketed in Snow as J&K Prepares for Tourist Season
The Bhaderwah area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district experienced a fresh spell of snowfall on Friday, setting the stage for the upcoming tourist season. As the region gears up for an influx of visitors, snow clearance operations are being initiated on a large scale across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has commenced a significant snow clearance operation on the Tanghdar Road in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. This initiative is crucial for maintaining accessibility and ensuring the smooth flow of tourism-related activities in the region.
Efforts to Attract Tourists
Bhaderwah Tehsildar Umar Jahanzeb, while speaking to ANI, emphasized the importance of snowfall in attracting tourists to the area. He assured that efforts are underway to clear the roads promptly. His visit to the site was to assess the situation and expedite the road clearance work.
Gulmarg’s Winter Wonderland
The renowned tourist and skiing destination Gulmarg, located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, also witnessed fresh snowfall on Thursday. This picturesque snowfall has transformed the landscape, with mountains, trees, and branches beautifully adorned with snow, drawing spectators from various parts of the country.
The Kashmir Valley and parts of Ladakh have been experiencing snowfall in the higher reaches, while the plains are witnessing heavy rains. This change in weather has led to a significant drop in temperature across the valley.
Snowfall Season in Kashmir
Traditionally, the snowfall season in Kashmir spans from December to February. However, in 2023, the region observed its first snowfall of the season in late September, affecting the upper mountains of Kashmir. This early snowfall has set the tone for the tourist season, offering a unique and captivating experience for visitors.
