Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh High Court Cracks Down on Non-Compliance, Issues Warrants Against 3 Pulwama Officers

Srinagar// The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has issued bailable warrants of ₹10,000 each against three senior officials for failing to comply with its earlier directions in a PIL concerning alleged illegal waste dumping and a sludge treatment facility at Newa, Pulwama.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati and Justice Rajnesh Oswal issued the warrants against the Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama; Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council, Pulwama; and Member Secretary, J&K Pollution Control Board.

The Court observed that despite being granted a “last and final opportunity” on August 4, 2026, the officials neither filed the required affidavits nor appeared personally before the Court.

Terming the conduct “complete non-compliance” with its order, the Bench directed the concerned SSP to execute the bailable warrants and ensure the officers’ presence on the next date of hearing.

The PIL seeks action against the alleged illegal waste dumping site and sludge treatment facility at Newa for alleged violations of environmental norms and applicable laws.
