Atal-Dulloo Leads Republic-Day 2024 Preparations: Focus on Vibrant Events and Tightened Security
Atal Dulloo, the Chief Secretary, convened a meeting with senior officials from civil and police administration today to assess the preparations for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations in 2024.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary urged the relevant Divisional administrations to proactively plan and organize events starting from the Panchayat level. He emphasized the need to incorporate various activities leading up to the event to generate enthusiasm among the people. Dulloo underscored the importance of infusing vibrancy into events held across the Union Territory (UT), particularly at the Panchayat level.
Dulloo highlighted the necessity for the administration to allocate sufficient time for school children to conduct rehearsals for their performances. He urged for assistance in transportation during the winter season and emphasized the provision of healthy and hygienic refreshments for the children.
In terms of traffic management, the Chief Secretary advocated for a plan that minimizes exhaustion and complexity for the general public. He called for additional frisking booths, particularly for school children and the elderly, to ensure smooth entry to the venue without any inconvenience.
The Chief Secretary issued directives to adorn and illuminate all rotaries and key public infrastructure in both Jammu and Srinagar. Special arrangements were urged to create a festive ambiance in both smart cities and towns of J&K.
Concerning the Tableau to be presented during the main functions in Jammu and Srinagar, Dulloo recommended promoting themes related to achievements in Jal Jeevan Mission, Mission Shakti (Education), Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Sports, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Nasha Mukht J&K Mission.
The Chief Secretary also took note of the preparations and contingency plans of various departments regarding power, water, sanitation, and public address system facilities at the venues. He stressed the importance of foolproof security arrangements, along with the deployment of fire tenders and healthcare professionals in adequate numbers.
The Commissioner Secretary GAD and Divisional Commissioners briefed the meeting on the arrangements underway for the smooth conduct of Republic Day celebrations in both cities. They assured that all preparations would be completed well in advance, ensuring a joyful and memorable celebration across J&K.
