Assam Police STF Busts Fake Gold and FICN Racket in Guwahati, Apprehends Three

The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police made a significant breakthrough on Tuesday by uncovering a counterfeit gold and Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) racket in Guwahati. Three individuals were apprehended in connection with the racket.

Partha Sarathi Mahanta, the DIG (STF), informed ANI that acting on intelligence concerning the illicit trade and circulation of fake gold and currency, a raid was conducted at a rented residence belonging to Golap Hussain in Katahbari near Betkuchi, within the Gorchuk police station’s jurisdiction.

“During the raid, three individuals were detained, and the seized items include 1.69 kg of fake gold shaped like a boat, along with 413 counterfeit Rs 500 denomination notes (Total value = Rs 2,06,500), and two mobile phones,” stated Partha Sarathi Mahanta.

The arrested individuals, identified as Sahar Ali (27), Jagir Ali (23), and Musfikur Rahaman (23), belong to Lakhimpur district.

Following necessary legal procedures, the police have initiated further investigations into the matter. This crackdown signifies a significant stride in curbing the circulation of counterfeit valuables and currencies within the region.
