ARTO Kishtwar Seizes Overloaded Vehicle with 19 Kids, Suspends License
Kishtwar, June 28, 2024 :- In a bid to ensure road safety and discipline, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar Mohd Saleem today took a tough stance against traffic violators in the district.
During vehicle checking drive conducted on Dachhan Road, Kishtwar, the ARTO team seized an overloaded Eco Taxi (JK-176180) carrying 19 students and recommended for suspension of the driving license.The vehicle was found to be in gross violation of traffic rules and regulations.
The drive, conducted by Motor Vehicle Department Kishtwar resulting 58 vehicles issued e-challans, 8 overloaded passenger vehicles were challaned, 1 vehicle was challaned for over speeding and dangerous driving, 8 dumpers/tippers were challaned and 41 other vehicles were challaned under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle ActThe total fine/revenue generated from the drive is expected to be Rs. 4,67,700 besides driving license of gross violators were recommended for suspension.
The ARTO Kishtwar has warned the vehicle operators to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations, and advised two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and avoid rash driving. Commercial vehicles have been cautioned against overloading.The drive aims to ensure the safety of commuters and pedestrians on the roads of Kishtwar.
ARTO Kishtwar has also informed that Show Cause Notice for suspension of Driving License has been generated automatically after e- challaned for overlaoded passenger vehicle carrying transport goods on passenger vehicle, without speed limit device and driving two wheelers without crash helmet.
