An Army officer, Lieutenant Mohit Gupta, who was undergoing the Young Officers course at the Infantry School in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, has gone missing. The Mhow police station in Indore district registered a missing person’s report on Saturday.

Timeline of Events

According to preliminary investigations, Lt. Mohit Gupta went missing at around 6 am on Friday. All officers and personnel are required to attend Physical Training (PT) at 6 am. However, when Lt. Gupta did not appear for PT, his instructors asked his course mates to check on his well-being.

At approximately 7:30 am, Lt. Gupta’s room was checked, and when he was not found, authorities were informed about his disappearance. The Infantry School authorities provided the missing officer’s mobile number and permanent address to the police. Unfortunately, his mobile number was switched off.

Informing Family and Investigating Further

Lt. Gupta’s parents and other family members, who reside in the Srinagar locality of Etah city, Uttar Pradesh, have been informed about his disappearance. Authorities have also sought his call detail record (CDR) to gather information about individuals who were in contact with him.

A case has been registered by the Mhow police based on a complaint filed by Subedar Jarmal Singh, an instructor at the Young Officers wing of the Infantry School. An investigation into the matter is now underway.

Strict Campus Rules

The Infantry School enforces strict rules for officers and other personnel attending in-service courses. Trainees are generally not allowed to leave the campus, and all essential amenities and shops run by civilian contractors are located within the campus to prevent trainees from venturing outside.

In cases where personnel need to leave the campus for urgent reasons, they are required to obtain an out pass, which must be signed by an appropriate authority. Additionally, the Defence Security Corps (DSC) personnel, responsible for security at all gates, only allow individuals to leave the campus after verifying their passes.
