Apple is gearing up to test its new AI feature, “Ask,” signaling a significant foray into artificial intelligence beyond exclusive iPhone user applications. Unlike previous AI endeavors, “Ask” aims to cater to a broader audience, showcasing Apple’s ambitions in the AI landscape. Similar to ChatGPT but tailored for Apple users, “Ask” is designed to efficiently handle customer queries, addressing complex issues without immediate human intervention.

    Training Phase and Functionality

The current testing phase involves training the “Ask” AI tool using Apple’s internal database. A select group of support staff or advisors assess the tool’s answers and can pose up to five follow-up questions on a given topic. The tool automatically provides relevant information from its internal knowledge base when a question is asked, and advisors can rate the answers and seek further clarification. Apple plans to expand the tool based on feedback received during the testing phase.

    Enhancements in iOS 18

Scheduled for a June 2024 release, iOS 18 will introduce new generative AI features across various apps. Siri, Spotlight, Messages, Health, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and more will benefit from these advancements. AppleCare is also set to leverage generative AI to enhance the speed and efficiency of customer support.

This strategic move underscores Apple’s commitment to integrating AI into its ecosystem, offering users advanced tools and features for a seamless and intelligent user experience.
