Amit Shah Launches National Cooperative for Exports Limited (NCEL)
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, presided over the launch of the National Cooperative for Exports Limited (NCEL), a significant initiative that brings together the cooperative sectors in India’s export endeavors. The event, which took place in Delhi, featured the unveiling of the NCEL logo, website, and brochure, along with the distribution of membership certificates to NCEL members. NCEL was established as an umbrella organization for cooperative sector exports, registered under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002, on January 25 of this year. Minister Piyush Goyal also attended the event, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing the cooperative sector’s role in India’s export landscape.
Empowering the Cooperative Sector in Export Efforts
Piyush Goyal highlighted the collaboration between NCEL and the Commerce Department, emphasizing the comprehensive efforts by the Trade and Cooperative Ministries, along with the Foreign Ministry, to ensure the success of this venture. He underscored the vital role the cooperative sector plays in supporting government initiatives and significantly contributing to India’s exports.
Goyal stated that NCEL would be instrumental in boosting India’s exports and contributing to the nation’s economic development. He emphasized the cooperative sector’s potential to strengthen government efforts and drive the country’s export capabilities. Goyal also mentioned the role of the cooperative sector in fulfilling the increasing demand for ethanol, especially in the context of the Global Biofuels Alliance led by India.
Amit Shah’s Aspirations for NCEL
Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his hopes for NCEL to become a strong voice for farmers and facilitate the success of the cooperative sector. He highlighted the government’s significant progress in establishing the foundation for NCEL’s operations, including temporary offices, personnel recruitment, and substantial orders with ongoing negotiations. Shah expressed confidence that NCEL would join the ranks of successful cooperatives like IFFCO and Amul.
Shah also commended the substantial contributions made by cooperatives in various sectors, including food production, sugar production, milk production, spindles, and grain. He stressed the role of cooperatives in financing farmers who produce goods and emphasized their significant share in this process.
