AIUDF President Accuses Congress for NRC Fallout in Assam, Foresees Strong Lok Sabha Performance
Badruddin Ajmal, President of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), criticized the Congress party for the predicaments faced by Assam’s populace in the aftermath of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercise.
Ajmal, also a Lok Sabha MP representing Assam’s Dhubri constituency, squarely blamed the Congress for labeling many state residents as ‘Bangladeshis’.
During a party meeting in Assam’s Dhubri district, Ajmal pointed fingers at Congress, attributing the creation of the NRC issue and the establishment of detention camps to the party.
He vehemently expressed that the Congress had unjustly stamped the ‘Bangladeshi’ tag on their community.
Asserting the potential downfall of Congress in Assam, Ajmal emphasized the necessity for an alliance between AIUDF and Congress.
He warned of successive electoral defeats for Congress unless they align with AIUDF, suggesting that this could spell the end of their influence in the region.
Looking ahead to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Ajmal projected a robust performance by AIUDF.
He expressed confidence in securing victories in constituencies like Nagaon, Karimganj, and Dhubri, asserting that these regions had become favorable to their party.
The National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercise, mandated by the Assam Accord of August 15, 1985, has stirred controversy and led to social and political ramifications in the state, with Ajmal holding Congress responsible for the ensuing troubles.
