AAP Unveils Star Campaigners and Candidates for J&K Elections
Key Highlights:
- AAP names 40 star campaigners, including key leaders and MPs.
- The party announces its first-ever list of candidates in J&K.
- AAP pledges to address regional issues like free electricity and clean water.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially announced its list of 40 star campaigners for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, marking the party’s first major political move in the region.
Among the prominent figures on the list are Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The party submitted this list to the Election Commission of India, signaling its serious intent to contest the elections with full strength.
A party spokesperson, addressing the media in Srinagar, emphasized AAP’s commitment to fulfilling its electoral promises, contrasting it with other parties.
He highlighted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve access to free electricity and clean drinking water, considering the region’s rich hydroelectric and water resources. This stance reflects AAP’s broader campaign platform, which has previously focused on similar issues in Delhi and Punjab.
This election marks a significant milestone for AAP, as the party did not participate in previous elections in Jammu and Kashmir, including the recent Lok Sabha polls.
The list of star campaigners also includes Sunita Kejriwal, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, as well as MPs Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, and Minister Atishi.
Other notable names on the list are Er. Javaid Ahmad Bhat, Deeba Khan, S S Shingari, Dr. Sandeep Pathak, Pankaj Gupta, and N D Gupta.
In addition to unveiling its star campaigners, AAP has also announced its first list of candidates for seven constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir.
This move highlights AAP’s ambition to expand its political footprint beyond its strongholds in Delhi and Punjab, as it ventures into the Jammu and Kashmir electoral landscape for the first time.
