Assessing the District’s Progress
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, visited Ganderbal to evaluate the development progress in the district. The event was a celebration of the district’s achievements, where numerous projects and initiatives were inaugurated and announced.
Empowering Ganderbal’s Youth
During the visit to Manasbal Park, the Union Minister toured various stalls set up by different departments and inspected the ongoing mega job fair organized by the Employment and Counseling Centre Ganderbal. This fair, known as the “Berozgar Mukt Ganderbal” initiative, is a significant effort to create employment opportunities, especially for the local youth.

Foundation Stones Laid, Projects Inaugurated
Nityanand Rai laid the foundation stones for several key projects, amounting to Rs 5.39 crore. These projects included the development of Dignibal Police Colony Road, the upgradation of Gujar Pati and Gori Mohalla Link roads at Malshahibagh, and the upgradation/development of Shuhuma internal links. Additionally, he inaugurated vital projects worth Rs 13.76 crore, such as the Water Supply Scheme in various locations, contributing to the improvement of essential services in the district.
Supporting Livelihoods and Nutritional Needs
During the event, the Union Minister presented a cheque worth Rs 16,89000 to the people of Ganderbal as part of the Livelihood and Nutritional support provided under the Prime Minister’s Matasya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). This initiative aims to enhance the living standards of the local population.
Commitment to Kashmir’s Revival as a Tourist Hub
In his address, Nityanand Rai expressed the government’s dedication to re-establishing Kashmir as a tourist paradise under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government is committed to providing safety and state-of-the-art facilities for tourists, with a strong focus on tourism development in the Union Territory.
Promoting Self-Employment Ventures and Panchayat Initiatives
The Union MoS commended the district administration for facilitating self-employment ventures among the local youth and achieving the goal of making over 50 percent of Panchayats Nasha Mukt (alcohol-free). He also praised the administration for organizing a mega job fair that led to the selection of over 1180 local youth for various posts out of the 7800 participants.
Supporting Various Schemes and Initiatives
Nityanand Rai distributed sanction letters to beneficiaries under various schemes, including the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Golden Cards, UDID Cards, and Abha Cards. He also presented appreciation certificates to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Solid Waste Management and members of the Pani Samiti.
Agriculture and Horticulture Growth
The Union Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to boosting employment opportunities in the Union Territory through various schemes in agriculture and allied sectors. These efforts have significantly increased the productivity of agriculture and horticulture.
Health and Disability Services
Nityanand Rai inaugurated a Cupping Therapy Unit at the District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) in Wayil Ganderbal. This new unit will provide free treatment to people with disabilities, enhancing the services offered by the DDRC.
Women’s Empowerment and Self-Defence
The Union Minister learned about the Sakhi Club, a women’s empowerment club that empowers women to understand their rights and access government services. During the event, he witnessed a live demonstration of self-defense techniques for women in case of harassment or molestation in public places.
