
Patwari Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe in Kathua Jk, Arrested by ACB
The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Sudershan Khajuria, a Patwari of Halqa Khanpur in Kathua district, for allegedly accepting a ₹15,000 bribe to alter a Girdawari entry in revenue records.
According to officials, the complainant reported that Khajuria initially demanded ₹30,000, threatening to manipulate records if the payment was not made. Under pressure, the complainant paid ₹5,000 but later negotiated the total amount to ₹15,000. Unwilling to pay further, the complainant approached the ACB, which verified the bribery demand before registering an FIR under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the ACB Police Station in Jammu.

A trap was set, and Khajuria was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. The money was recovered from his possession, and he was arrested on the spot. Officials also conducted searches at his residence and office in the presence of a magistrate and independent witnesses. Further investigation is underway.
