Supreme Court Issues Contempt Notices to NCLAT Members
The Supreme Court of India, headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, has issued contempt notices to National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) members Rakesh Kumar and Alok Shrivastava in connection with the Finolex Cables case.
Chief Justice Chandrachud raised concerns about the functioning of NCLAT and ordered the two members to appear in person on October 30.
The court set aside NCLAT’s October 13 judgment and referred the case to Justice Ashok Bhushan.
The Supreme Court stated that the NCLAT members had failed to disclose correct facts, and their actions were “unbecoming of a tribunal.”
