SRINAGAR: A devastating fire broke out in the remote village of Mulwarwan in Warwan tehsil of Kishtwar, destroying approximately 40 houses. The fire spread rapidly due to the village’s mountainous terrain and remote location.

Firefighters were dispatched from Kokernag, located in the nearby Anantnag district, to combat the blaze. Efforts are ongoing to control the flames and prevent further destruction. Given the challenging terrain and limited accessibility, the fire response teams are facing difficulties in containing the fire.

Local authorities, including police and district officials, were immediately on-site to assess the damage and coordinate relief operations. Rescue teams are working to ensure that no one is trapped or injured, while relief efforts are underway to assist displaced families.

The Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, along with senior officials, is closely monitoring the situation. They have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to protect the residents and provide aid to those who have lost their homes.

The district administration is also investigating the cause of the fire and has started rehabilitation measures for the affected families. Although no casualties have been reported so far, the fire has severely disrupted the lives of villagers, many of whom depend on agriculture and livestock for their livelihoods. Relief operations are in full swing, and additional teams are being sent to offer further support.
