Omar Abdullah, the vice president of the National Conference, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, accusing it of targeting three prominent families, including the Abdullah family, to distract from its failures.
According to Abdullah, the BJP, instead of addressing real issues, is focused on attacking these families in a bid to cover up its lack of achievements in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his remarks, Abdullah referred to a recent visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Srinagar. He suggested that the Prime Minister’s repeated targeting of these families is a reflection of the BJP’s inability to present any meaningful accomplishments to the people.
“Prime Minister Modi might have chosen to attack these families because there is nothing else they can show to the public,” Abdullah remarked.
He went on to criticize the BJP for what he called six wasted years in the region, claiming that Jammu has seen a resurgence of militancy under their watch. Abdullah accused the party of focusing more on political attacks than addressing the real concerns of the people, such as rising militancy and governance issues.
When asked about Modi’s approach to questions, Abdullah responded that the Prime Minister has not answered a single query since coming to power. “Modi does not engage with the public or address their concerns,” he added. “However, we are not hiding. We are here to answer and engage with the people.”
Omar Abdullah’s statements underscore his long-standing criticism of the BJP’s handling of Jammu and Kashmir.
