Authorities in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have initiated an official inquiry into the death of a female patient at Mohammadia Nursing Home, following allegations of medical negligence.
The investigation concerns the death of Saboora Arshid, daughter of Arshid Hussain Bhat, a resident of Arihal Pulwama, who was under treatment at the private hospital. Officials stated that the Deputy Commissioner of Pulwama is leading the inquiry into the incident.
In a decisive move to preserve evidence, the Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate) of Pulwama, working alongside the Chief Medical Officer and the Station House Officer (SHO), has been instructed to immediately seal the operation theatre of Mohammadia Nursing Home.
This step is intended to safeguard medical records and other critical evidence relevant to the investigation. Authorities emphasized that the sealing process will be conducted in compliance with standard procedures, with video documentation to ensure transparency.
Additionally, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has set up an inquiry committee to formally investigate the circumstances leading to Saboora’s death, which occurred on September 14, 2024.
According to an official order, the committee is tasked with thoroughly examining the events surrounding the death and submitting its report with specific recommendations within one week.
Once the report is received, necessary legal action will be taken against any individuals or parties found responsible for the alleged negligence. The inquiry aims to ensure accountability and justice in the case.
