National Conference leader Omar Abdullah expressed support for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail, which was granted by the Supreme Court in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Abdullah emphasized that legal matters should be resolved in court, not through elections.

“Congratulations to him. Coming out is only through court. This is a betrayal to the people of Baramulla, who were told that they could free someone through voting. No one is released through votes, only by the court,” Abdullah said.

In response to the Supreme Court decision, Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of attempting to jail opposition leaders to maintain power. She stated, “Their only goal is this… BJP’s plans have been ruined.”

Manish Sisodia, former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP leader, also hailed the decision. In a post on social media platform X, Sisodia declared, “Once again, truth has triumphed over lies and conspiracies.

I pay tribute to Baba Saheb Ambedkar, whose foresight 75 years ago empowered the common man against future dictators.”

The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal, citing that prolonged incarceration would result in an unjust deprivation of liberty.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in March 2024 on money laundering charges related to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-2022. He was later arrested by the CBI in June while still in ED custody.
