    Doda, August 18: Healthcare professionals in Doda, along with various organizations, united in a peaceful candle march to protest the horrific rape of a 31-year-old PG trainee doctor at RK Kar Medical College in Kolkata.

    The march, organized by the All J&K National Health Mission Employees and JK Medical Employees Federation Doda, drew participants from diverse sectors, including students from Govt ANMT School Doda, Sakhi One Stop Centre, Parisha & Palash Child Care Institute, and multiple NGOs.

    The demonstration began at the CMO Office Doda and proceeded through various routes, culminating at Clock Tower Dessa Road Chowk.

    Women played a prominent role in the march, holding candles and placards in silent tribute to the victim. The event not only expressed grief but also served as a powerful demand for justice.

    Addressing the gathering, Sr Vice President of JKNHMEA Jammu Division, Faizan A Tramboo, condemned the crime as an attack on womanhood. He called for swift justice and emphasized the urgent need for stronger laws to prevent such atrocities.

    Tramboo highlighted the growing dangers faced by healthcare workers, particularly women, and the necessity for legal reforms to ensure their safety.

    Other speakers, including Dr. Nasir Masood, President of NHM Employees Association Doda, and Hoshyar Singh, President of MEF Doda, echoed these sentiments, demanding a fast-track investigation and severe punishment for those responsible.

    The involvement of leaders like Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev and Akash Parihar underscored the community’s commitment to women’s safety.

    Representatives from various organizations, including Sandhya Thakur, Dr. Sanya Khan, and others, also voiced their solidarity with the victim’s family, calling for justice and underscoring the collective resolve to prevent such incidents in the future.
