Anti-Pakistan protests in Jammu after four Army personnel killed in Doda
Anti-Pakistan protests surged in Jammu on Tuesday following the death of four Army personnel in a fierce encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.
The gunfight, which erupted on Monday evening, marks the third significant encounter between security forces and militants in the Doda forests within the past three weeks.
The slain soldiers were identified as Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay.
Anti-Pakistan Sentiments Intensify
In response to the incident, various groups, including Shiv Sena Dogra Front (SSDF), Mission Statehood, and several civil society organizations, organized protests across Jammu city.
Demonstrators vociferously condemned Pakistan for allegedly supporting militant activities in the region and burned effigies symbolizing the neighboring country.
Mission Statehood’s Strong Condemnation
Mission Statehood, a regional organization, conducted a notable protest in the New Plot area. Led by group president Sunil Dimple, the protestors accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism in Kashmir.
Dimple denounced the attack as cowardly and blamed militants, sleeper cells, and local guides operating from Pakistan.
He also criticized the BJP government, claiming it had failed to prevent such attacks, calling for more effective measures to curb terrorism in the region.
Shiv Sena Dogra Front and Civil Society Response
Simultaneously, Shiv Sena Dogra Front activists, led by president Ashok Gupta, demonstrated at Rani Park. Chanting anti-Pakistan slogans, the protesters demanded decisive action against terrorists in the Valley.
Gupta’s group was joined by civil society members, who also held a protest in the Muthi area of the city.
The civil society demonstrators echoed calls for stronger measures to ensure the safety and security of the region.
The escalating violence and loss of life have ignited widespread anger and demand for robust counter-terrorism actions in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring the continuing volatility and the urgent need for effective intervention.
