Rajouri Police Attach Drug Peddler’s Property Worth Over Rs 1 Crore
JAMMU,15 JULY 2024 : In a significant crackdown on narcotics trade in Jammu and Kashmir, the property of an alleged drug peddler, valued at over Rs 1 crore, was attached in Rajouri district on Monday.
The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a senior police officer confirmed.
Property Attachment Details
The residential house belonging to Basid Ali was attached under Section 68(E)(F) of the NDPS Act. This legal provision allows for the attachment of properties acquired through illegal means, specifically in connection with drug-related offenses.
Basid Ali has multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against him under the NDPS Act in various police stations across Rajouri, indicating his extensive involvement in the narcotics trade.
Operation Led by ASP Musadik Basu
The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Musadik Basu, who emphasized the significance of this action.
According to ASP Basu, the property was proven to be acquired through the illicit proceeds of narcotics trafficking.
The attachment of Basid Ali’s property is seen as a major step in curbing the drug menace in the region, as it targets the financial assets of those involved in the illegal drug trade.
Ongoing Efforts Against Narcotics
The attachment of Basid Ali’s property is part of a broader effort by the Jammu and Kashmir police to dismantle the drug trade network in the region.
The police have been actively pursuing individuals involved in narcotics trafficking, with several FIRs being registered and properties being seized.
This decisive action sends a strong message to drug peddlers that their illegal activities will not be tolerated, and their assets will be confiscated to undermine their operations.
The police’s relentless efforts against the narcotics trade aim to protect the community and prevent the spread of drug abuse, ensuring a safer environment for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
