Deputy Commissioner Budgam Suspends Four Patwaris for Dereliction of Duties
BUDGAM : Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, Akshay Labroo, on Friday ordered the immediate suspension of four Patwaris from the Revenue department’s Tehsil Office in Narbal for ‘dereliction of duties.’ Additionally, two Junior Assistants have been attached for reasons that remain undisclosed.
Review Meeting Exposes Major Failures
This decision followed a comprehensive review meeting conducted by the Deputy Commissioner along with a committee of senior officers, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Budgam.
The meeting, held on July 12, 2024, aimed to assess the functioning of the Tehsil Office in Narbal. During the review, significant lapses were found, particularly in adhering to the Public Services Guarantee Act timelines and the maintenance of revenue records.
Citizen Complaints Prompt Action
The review meeting was initiated in response to multiple complaints from citizens regarding the office’s inefficiency. These complaints highlighted delays and negligence in service delivery, prompting the administration to take immediate action.
The Public Services Guarantee Act mandates specific timelines for providing services to the public, and the failure to meet these timelines was a significant factor in the decision to suspend the Patwaris.
Official Order Highlights Lapses
An official order issued by DC Budgam, Akshay Labroo, underscored the gravity of the situation. It emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring timely and efficient public service delivery.
The order explicitly mentioned the deficiencies in adhering to the mandated timelines and the poor maintenance of revenue records. The suspension and attachment of the involved officials are seen as measures to uphold accountability and improve the functioning of the Tehsil office.
The Deputy Commissioner’s decisive action reflects the administration’s dedication to addressing public grievances and ensuring that government services are delivered efficiently and transparently.
