The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department (SED) has mandated holding morning assemblies in all schools across the union territory, starting with the National Anthem. This directive aims to maintain uniformity and promote a sense of national pride among students.
According to a circular issued by the SED, morning assemblies shall be 20 minutes in duration. All students and teachers are required to gather at the designated area at the start of the school day. The assemblies will commence with the National Anthem following standard protocol.
The circular emphasizes the importance of these assemblies in fostering leadership qualities and enhancing the skills of students, as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It specifies that three to four students or teachers must deliver awareness or motivational talks daily on various topics. These topics include autobiographies, daily announcements, inspirational talks, theme of the week/month, character education, stress management and health tips, cultural celebrations, guest speakers, creative performances, educational trivia or facts, mindfulness and well-being, environmental awareness, career and college readiness, and the menace of drugs.
The directive underscores the SED’s commitment to holistic education, aiming to cultivate well-rounded individuals equipped with leadership skills and a strong sense of community.
