ACB Raids Panth Chowk SHO’s House, Recovers ₹5.36 Lakh in Cash
UNI Srinagar/ Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has recovered Rs.536,000 during a raid at the house of SHO Panth Chowk. Let us know that on Friday, ACB arrested SHO Panth Chowk and his partner red-handed while taking bribe from the questioner inside the police station.
An ACB spokesperson said on Saturday that the petitioner lodged a written complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau that SHO Panth Chowk Srinagar Inspector Azam Khan paid Rs 8 lakh for obtaining the accident report through intermediary Mushtaq Ahmed. demanding bribe. He said that after the complainant made serious allegations against the SHO, the ACB started an investigation, during which the claims of the complainant were found to be true. I have registered a case under FIR No. 13/24 under Sections 7 and 12 PC Act and started investigation.
According to the ACB statement, on March 25, 2024, an accident occurred in a stone mine in Khanmoh, where Samir Ahmad Najjar was engaged in mining minerals with an excavator, and a heavy stone fell on the hydraulic excavator, as a result of which a laborer named Muhammad Mushtaq was killed. The police registered a case and started investigation.
According to the statement, during the investigation, the SHO registered a case against the excavator operator and his partner separately under FIR number 26/24 and seized the excavator. The excavator owner contacted the company to get the insurance money. established and the insurance company entrusted the work to Allak Consultancy Company. The company informed the owner of the excavator to file a police report so the owner approached the SHO Panth Chowk and the Hon’ble Court to release the hydraulic excavator.
The competent court directed the SHO to submit a report in this regard on April 1 and May 22, but the police officer failed to submit the report both times. According to the ACB statement, during the investigation, it was found that SH O Azam Iqbal was deliberately delaying the matter and finally agreed to provide the required reports to the complainant through his intermediary Mushtaq Abbasi on payment of a bribe of eight lakhs.
The concerned SHO had to pay Rs.5 lakh and fifty thousand rupees but still the report was not provided to him. The Anti-Corruption Bureau laid a trap during which SHO Azam Iqbal and his associate Mushtaq Ahmed were arrested red-handed while accepting bribe money from the petitioner inside the police station. He said that in the presence of independent witnesses, the SHO 1.5 lakh in cash and a check of 50 thousand rupees were seized from the official room. He further said that 5.36 lakh was recovered during the search of the official room of the SHO. Further investigation is going on in this regard.
