Commuters Urged to Plan Routes Accordingly
In anticipation of the India vs. Afghanistan World Cup Cricket match scheduled for October 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and safety of commuters. The match, set to begin at 2 pm on Wednesday, will witness diversions and restrictions on specific routes around the stadium.
According to the advisory, commuters are advised to avoid the following routes due to diversions or restrictions: Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and JLN Marg. Heavy vehicles and buses will not be permitted on the roads spanning from Daryaganj to Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and from Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road. This measure is aimed at minimizing congestion and facilitating the movement of spectators.
Limited parking facilities are available for labeled vehicles in the vicinity of the stadium. It is mandatory for vehicles to display a valid car parking label on the windscreen, with the vehicle number written on the label. Vehicles lacking a valid parking label will not be granted access to the proximity of the stadium. Car parking label holders are advised to take Ring Road, JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road, or Bahadurshah Zafar Marg for easy access.
Additionally, vehicles are strictly prohibited from parking on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, and Ring Road from Rajghat to IP Flyover, on both carriageways. Vehicles found parked in these restricted areas will be towed away and subjected to legal action.
For the convenience of spectators, a park and ride facility is available for both labeled and unlabeled vehicles. Spectators arriving in their vehicles can make use of the Mata Sundari parking, Shanti Van parking, and the parking located under Velodrome Road. Furthermore, application-based taxis and other taxi services should utilize the service lane on Ring Road between IP Flyover and Rajghat crossing for drop-off and pickup purposes.
Commuters and spectators are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly, abide by traffic regulations, and cooperate with traffic authorities to ensure a hassle-free experience during the cricket match.
