Amid escalating tensions, Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer is set to embark on an official visit to India from May 8-10. During this visit, Minister Zameer will engage in discussions with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, covering various areas of cooperation.
This visit assumes significance as it marks Minister Zameer’s inaugural official visit to India since assuming office. It comes against the backdrop of India’s commitment to replace its military personnel from Maldives before May 10, a decision reached during the recent bilateral High-Level Core Group meeting. Both sides have expressed contentment with the progress of logistical arrangements for this replacement.
Moreover, the meeting concluded with plans for the fifth High-Level Core Group meeting to convene in Male, highlighting the continuous dialogue between the two nations.
