PTI Calls for Inquiry Amid Allegations of ISI Interference

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has urged an impartial inquiry into allegations raised by Islamabad High Court judges regarding interference by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in judicial affairs, as per Dawn. PTI described the judges’ letter as a “charge sheet” and demanded security for the judges involved.

Imran Khan’s Endorsement and Concerns

Imran Khan, in a statement, commended the judges for exposing the “alarming state” of the higher judiciary and stressed the need for an unbiased investigation. The PTI statement criticized the “shameful interference” of intelligence agencies in judicial matters and questioned the fairness of court judgments over the past two years.

Judges’ Plea and PTI’s Call for Action

Six Islamabad High Court judges, excluding Chief Justice Amer Farooq, wrote to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), highlighting alleged ISI influence in judicial proceedings and pressuring judges. PTI’s Barrister Gohar Ali Khan emphasized the need for safety measures for judges and their families and called for a judicial commission to conduct an inquiry. He urged legal bodies to unite in efforts to safeguard the judiciary’s independence.
