The Left party secured a resounding victory in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union Election, clinching all four seats after a gap of four years. The polling, held on March 22, witnessed a decisive mandate in favor of the Left, marking a significant political shift within the university.

Left Secures Presidency

Dhananjay, representing the Left, emerged victorious as the President of JNUSU, defeating ABVP’s Umesh Chandra Ajmeera with 2598 votes. The announcement, made by Election Committee Chairperson Shailendra Kumar, reaffirmed the Left’s stronghold in student politics.

Vice Presidency Won by Left & General Secretaryship Goes Left

Avijit Ghosh, another candidate from the Left, secured the Vice President’s position with 2409 votes, triumphing over ABVP’s Deepika Sharma. The decisive victory underscores the Left’s popularity and resonance among the student community.

Priyanshi Arya, supported by the Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students Association (BAPSA) and the Left, emerged as the General Secretary, garnering 2887 votes. The result reflects the student body’s endorsement of the Left’s agenda and vision for the university.

Mo Sajid, representing the Left, clinched the Joint Secretary’s seat with 2574 votes, consolidating the Left’s dominance across all key positions in JNUSU. The electoral verdict signifies a renewed mandate for progressive student activism and advocacy.
