Microsoft Upgrades Copilot with GPT-4 Turbo
Microsoft’s Copilot receives a significant upgrade, transitioning to OpenAI’s advanced GPT-4 Turbo model, as revealed by a company executive. The update impacts both free tier and Pro version users, with Copilot Pro subscribers having the option to revert to the older GPT-4 model. Additionally, the company announces the global launch date for Copilot for Security platform, slated for April 1.
Enhanced Knowledge and Performance
Mikhail Parakhin, CEO of Advertising and Web Services at Microsoft, announced the upgrade on X, highlighting the seamless transition to GPT-4 Turbo in the Copilot free tier. Despite the lack of fanfare, the upgrade is expected to significantly enhance user experience. Notably, Copilot Pro users already had access to GPT-4 Turbo.
Advancements in AI Technology
GPT-4 Turbo, introduced by OpenAI in November 2023, boasts an expanded context window of 128,000 tokens, enabling it to process vast amounts of data for improved contextual understanding. This update brings enhanced performance to Copilot, allowing for more up-to-date responses and improved support across different modes.
The launch of Copilot for Security platform, powered by GPT-4 and Microsoft’s security models, adds another dimension to Microsoft’s AI offerings. Scheduled for release on April 1, the platform offers multilingual capabilities and support for 25 languages, catering to the needs of enterprise customers worldwide.
As technology continues to evolve, Microsoft remains at the forefront of innovation, leveraging advanced AI models to enhance productivity, security, and user experience across its platforms and services.
