Jairam Ramesh Questions BJP’s 400 Paar Ambitions and Alliances

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh engaged in a candid conversation with ANI, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of being ‘experts at psychological warfare.’ Ramesh questioned the credibility of the BJP-led NDA’s claim that they were set to surpass ‘400 paar’ in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Expressing skepticism, Ramesh pointed out the inconsistency in the BJP’s optimism about winning over 370 seats independently, juxtaposed with their efforts to form alliances with parties like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena. According to Ramesh, these endeavors indicate a strategic attempt to revive the ruling alliance.

In a scathing remark, Ramesh characterized PM Modi and Amit Shah as adept practitioners of psychological warfare. He challenged their confidence in electoral numbers, highlighting their pursuit of additional partners as the elections draw near. Ramesh emphasized, “If they are so confident about their numbers in the polls, why are they looking to add more partners?”

Taking a swipe at the BJP, Ramesh cleverly played with words, stating, “There are two ‘I’s in INDIA, and if we take out these two, which stand for ‘Imandari’ and ‘Insaniyat,’ you are left with NDA.” This, he asserted, was the message the Congress aimed to convey to the people ahead of the elections.

On the probable PM face for the INDIA Bloc, Ramesh emphasized that elections in the country are not beauty contests but battles of ideologies, symbols, and flags.

As the BJP announced alliances with the TDP and Jana Sena, Ramesh critiqued the catchphrase ‘Modi Ki Guarantee,’ attributing it to the BJP’s losses in Karnataka and Telangana. He clarified that the Congress counters this with ‘Kharge ki guarantee,’ ‘Rahul ji ki guarantee,’ and ‘Sonia ji ki guarantee.’

The senior Congress leader concluded by announcing a mega rally in Mumbai on March 17, marking the culmination of Rahul’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.’ The objective behind this journey, according to Ramesh, is to make people aware of the guarantees promised by the Congress, focusing on issues like MSP for farmers and loan waivers.
