Actor-politician Kamal Haasan affirmed his unwavering support and campaign efforts for the DMK in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In exchange for this support, MNM has been offered one seat for the 2025 Rajya Sabha polls by the DMK.
“We are not contesting in this election, but we will give all cooperation to this alliance. We have joined hands not just for position but for the Nation,” declared Kamal Haasan, highlighting the collaborative approach of the alliance.

Kamal Haasan’s political debut in 2018 with Makkal Needhi Maiam saw the party contesting in 37 seats during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, where it faced defeat with a vote share of 3.72%. Haasan, who contested the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, narrowly lost to BJP Mahila Morcha President Vanathi Srinivasan by 1728 votes in Coimbatore South.
Meanwhile, DMK has solidified its alliances for the Lok Sabha Polls, allocating seats to various parties, including the Communist Party of India, CPIM, Indian Union Muslim League, Kongu Desa Makkal Katchi, and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi. The DMK alliance, victorious in 38 out of 39 seats in 2019, aims for a similar outcome in the upcoming elections.
