25 Companies of Central Armed Police Forces Arrive in Punjab Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls

In a proactive measure to ensure the integrity of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Punjab state has welcomed the deployment of 25 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). The move aims to establish area domination and implement confidence-building measures for a free and fair electoral process.

    Diverse Security Forces Collaboration

The 25 deployed companies consist of a strategic collaboration, including five companies of Central Reserved Police Forces (CRPF), 15 companies of Border Security Force (BSF), and five companies of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). This diverse mix of security forces underscores the comprehensive approach to safeguarding the electoral process.

    Strategic Deployment for Public Confidence

Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla emphasized that the forces’ deployment in vulnerable districts serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it aims to instill confidence among the general public, fostering a sense of security. Secondly, it strategically dominates sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas within the state. Shukla highlighted ongoing efforts in mapping vulnerable areas, facilitating the targeted deployment of additional forces to preempt any potential disturbances leading up to the General Elections.

Shukla outlined additional measures, stating, “All the CPs/SSPs have already been asked to keep vigil around the anti-social elements and carry out flag marches in their jurisdictions to build confidence among the general public.” He concluded with a commitment to election integrity, praising the dedication of Punjab Police under the leadership of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav. Their pledge is to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process in the state.
