Curfew Imposed in Maharashtra’s Jalna Amid Maratha Reservation Protests
To curb potential law and order issues during activist Manoj Jarange’s ongoing agitation for Maratha reservation, a curfew has been imposed in Ambad taluka of Maharashtra’s Jalna district. The district administration issued the order to prevent disturbances as Jarange declared his intention to go to Mumbai to protest for Maratha community reservation. The curfew, effective from Monday midnight under CrPC section 144 (2), exempts government offices, schools, national highway movement, milk distribution, media, and hospitals.

Curfew Imposed in Maharashtra’s Jalna: Activists Allegations and Planned Mumbai Protest
Manoj Jarange, staging a hunger strike in Antarwali Sarati, alleged on Sunday that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was attempting to harm him. Jarange announced his plan to march to Mumbai and protest outside the deputy CM’s residence. He claimed a poisoning attempt through saline but did not provide details. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde cautioned Jarange against testing the government’s patience, and the state legislature recently passed a bill providing 10% reservation for Marathas. However, Jarange insists on OBC category inclusion and converting the ‘blood relatives’ notification into law. The budget session of the state legislature commences on Monday.
