    In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu on Tuesday, security forces in Kashmir have been put on high alert. The heightened security measures aim to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister and prevent any potential subversive activities by terrorists during his visit to the Union Territory.

    Random Vehicle Checks and Special Checkpoints

    Police and paramilitary forces are actively conducting random checks of vehicles at numerous locations in the city and surrounding areas. Special checking points, including entry and exit points, have been strategically set up as a precautionary measure to enhance security. These measures aim to create a secure environment for the Prime Minister’s visit to the Jammu region.

    Key Projects to be Inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi

    During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to inaugurate several key development projects in Jammu. These include the AIIMS hospital in Jammu, the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab river, and the Devika river project in Udhampur. Additionally, he is likely to remotely flag off the first train in the Sangaldan-Baramulla rail link and address a public rally in Jammu.

    Comprehensive Security Review Meeting in Kashmir

    Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, chaired a comprehensive security review meeting at PCR Kashmir. Attended by senior officers from various security agencies, including police, Army, BSF, CRPF, SSB, CISF, and state and central intelligence agencies, the meeting focused on strengthening security arrangements for VVIP visits and other upcoming events in the Union Territory.

    Emphasis on Vigilance and Intelligence Gathering

    IGP Kashmir stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between security needs and the smooth conduct of events. He directed officers to ensure heightened vigilance, especially during night hours, to mitigate the risk of terrorist threats. The need to bolster intelligence gathering and anti-terror operations was highlighted, with specific directives to enhance security along critical points such as the National Highway, tunnels, and minority pickets.
