Delhi Police Prepares with 30000 Tear Gas Shells for Farmers Protest March
Preventive Measures at Border Crossings
The Delhi Police is fortifying its defense against the ‘Dilli Chalo’ protest by acquiring an additional 30,000 tear gas shells, signaling their determination to prevent Punjab farmers from entering the national capital. Hundreds of farmers, marching from Punjab, have already faced tear gas at the border with Haryana, approximately 200 kilometers away from Delhi.
Tear Gas Procurement and Usage
In anticipation of potential escalations, the Delhi Police has not only stockpiled a substantial number of tear gas shells but has also placed orders for an extra 30,000 from the BSF’s Tear Smoke Unit in Gwalior. These shells, designed to disperse crowds, are being transported to Delhi from Gwalior. The gas induces tears by irritating the eyes, serving as an anti-riot measure.
Strategic Distribution of Resources
Delhi Police, adhering to their established norms, plans to distribute the fresh tear gas stock to district police and other units. Given the current scenario, the outer, outer-north, and east district police are likely recipients, responsible for handling potential protest sites within the national capital.
Stringent Security Measures at Border Points
The Delhi Police has meticulously arranged logistical support to impede farmers’ progress at the Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur borders. These strategic points fall under the jurisdictions of outer, outer-north, and east districts, respectively. Security personnel are equipped with tear gas shells, water cannons, and anti-riot gear, with strict orders to prevent any unauthorized entry.
