Omar Abdullah Challenges Government on ‘One Nation, One Election’ in Jammu and Kashmir
Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has challenged the central government to prove its commitment to the ‘one nation, one election’ concept by conducting parliamentary and assembly elections simultaneously in the region in 2024. Abdullah expressed skepticism about the government’s ability to implement the policy, emphasizing the need for simultaneous polls even in a single state. He also addressed the sensitive issue of the return of Kashmiri Pandit migrants and dismissed rumors of internal conflicts within the I.N.D.I. Alliance, confirming the alliance’s unity.
