Punjab Police Crackdown: Two US-Based Drug Smugglers Apprehended in Mega Drug and Arms Syndicate
The Punjab Police announced a significant breakthrough in their operations by apprehending two key members of a USA-based drug smuggling network linked to Manpreet Singh Mannu Muhawa. Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, revealed this success through social media, highlighting an intelligence-driven operation that led to the arrests.
“Two key members of the USA-based drug smuggler Manpreet Singh Mannu Muhawa have been arrested,” stated Gaurav Yadav, emphasizing the outcome of the operation. The officials seized 19 kilograms of heroin, 7 pistols, Mausers from Pakistan, approximately Rs 23 lakh in drug money, and drone spare parts as part of the operation.
The post on social media further elaborated on the ongoing investigations: “Apart from the backward and forward linkages, @cpamritsar teams are also working on the financial investigation of the Hawala links and property details to getting them frozen. Punjab Police is committed to making Punjab drug-free as per the vision of CM Bhagwant Mann.”
Additionally, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab achieved a significant arrest earlier in the week. They apprehended gangster Vikramjit Singh, known to be an operative associated with the Lawrance Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs. The DGP Punjab Police highlighted Vikramjit Singh’s involvement in cross-border smuggling activities and his assignment by foreign handlers to eliminate rival gang members.
“In a major breakthrough, AGTF Punjab has arrested Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky, an operative of Lawrance Bishnoi and Goldy Brar Gang. He was tasked by the foreign-based handler to eliminate rival gang members. He was also involved in cross-border weapons/drugs smuggling,” said the DGP.
The Punjab Police’s recent successes mark a critical stride in curbing drug smuggling and gang-related activities in the region, aligning with the state’s commitment to a drug-free Punjab, in line with CM Bhagwant Mann’s vision.
