Massive Fire Engulfs Illegal Factory Warehouse in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh
A significant fire erupted in a warehouse of a plastic and chemical factory located in the Badagaon area of Gwalior district, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday, officials reported. The factory, operating illicitly within a residential locality, caught ablaze, prompting an immediate response from the fire brigade.
“At the outset, we received information about a fire breakout in a factory warehouse here. Four water tankers were dispatched, and the fire was initially doused. However, residual ignition persisted, leading to reignition. Subsequently, three more vehicles were dispatched. Efforts are ongoing to bring the fire under control,” stated Atibal Singh Yadav, Fire Officer at Gwalior Municipal Corporation.
The warehouse, nestled within a residential compound on two sides with open spaces on the remaining sides, violated regulations as it was unlawfully constructed on government-owned land. “Firecrackers and oil drums were stored in the warehouse,” Yadav confirmed.
Considering the factory’s illegal operation and encroachment on government property, authorities are planning legal action against the establishment. There’s a possibility of its removal from the current location, added the fire officer.
