On Wednesday, authorities took decisive action by confiscating more than five kanals of orchard land owned by a well-known drug peddler in the Mawer area of Handwara, situated in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

An official from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with the Revenue Department, dealt a significant blow to the drug trade by seizing unlawfully acquired assets belonging to a notorious drug dealer in Audoora Mawer. In a targeted operation, the apple orchards, covering an area of 5.4 kanals under Khasra Number 14, were taken from Mohammad Amir Malik, son of Mohammad Mukhtar Malik of Audoora Mawer, utilizing the powers granted by the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The official stated, “We are committed to continuing our operations to eradicate the drug menace from Handwara.” This action reflects the ongoing efforts to combat the illicit drug trade and underscores the determination of law enforcement agencies to curb the influence of drug peddlers in the region.
