Samba Police Nab Hardcore Criminal Possessing Firearm
The Samba police apprehended a notorious criminal and seized a locally-made pistol from his possession within the jurisdiction of the Vijaypur Police Station.
The individual in custody has been identified as Vishal Sharma, the son of Sat Pal Sharma from Raja Chack, tehsil Akhnoor district Jammu. A case, FIR No.188/2023 U/S 3/25 Arms Act, has been officially filed at the Vijaypur Police Station, and an ongoing investigation is in progress.
This isn’t the first encounter with the law for Vishal Sharma. He has previously faced charges in two separate cases: one under FIR No. 269/2019 U/S 353/332 IPC (now challaned) for attempted murder, Arms Act, and assault, and another under FIR No. 43/2023 U/S 307/451/147/148/504/506/323 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act (now challaned), both registered at the Akhnoor Police Station in 2019 and 2023, respectively.
The arrest of Vishal Sharma took place at a designated checkpoint of the Vijaypur Police Station, located near the BDO Office.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, highlighted the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order. He stated that, in the past 11 months, a total of 156 hardcore criminals have been apprehended by the Samba police. Stringent legal measures are being taken against individuals involved in criminal activities, as well as those identified as miscreants and elements associated with unlawful activities in the district.
