Shimla’s Infrastructure Enhanced with New Tunnels, Assures Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu
Inaugurating a new tunnel near Dhali in Shimla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the commitment to upgrade existing tunnels and construct new ones in the city. He commended the accelerated progress in tunnel construction, attributing it to streamlined contributions and focused meetings.
“This tunnel opening benefits the upper Shimla area. Our tourism department has meticulously developed interior designs for tourist attractions. This infrastructure development is pivotal, and I express gratitude to the officials and ministers involved,” CM Sukhu highlighted. He underlined that these tunnels are instrumental in alleviating traffic congestion in the region.
Noting changes in rules to expedite infrastructure projects, CM Sukhu expressed optimism about the three-lane road’s impact on traffic flow. “Renovation of older tunnels is on the agenda, along with constructing new ones, as stipulated in the budget,” he assured, outlining the administration’s future plans.
Vineet Sharma, a local councillor in Dhali, lauded the new tunnel’s significance, particularly for tourists. “The old tunnel, dating back over 150 to 200 years, needed an upgrade. I extend gratitude to the Chief Minister, concerned minister, and local MLA for this initiative,” Sharma expressed.
In further developments, CM Sukhu disclosed plans for a Himachal Pradesh Congress committee delegation’s visit to New Delhi. “Our party high command has summoned us for a meeting on December 27th, engaging all ministers, CPS, party chiefs, and former party presidents ahead of the Loksabha Elections,” he shared.
The initiatives aim to bolster Shimla’s infrastructure, ensuring smoother transportation and enhancing the city’s appeal for tourists and residents alike.
