Indian and Tanzanian Military Chiefs Engage in Talks to Fortify Defence Cooperation
Chief of Army Staff, General Manoj Pande, extended a warm welcome to General John Mkunda, the Chief of the Tanzanian People’s Defence Force, in a significant meeting on Monday.
The high-level discussions primarily focused on enhancing the existing military ties between the defence forces of both nations.
During their interaction, the two officials delved into various aspects pertaining to bilateral defence cooperation.
The Additional Directorate General of Public Information of the Indian Army highlighted the engagement, stating, “General Manoj Pande #COAS welcomed and had an engaging interaction with General John Mkunda, #CDF, #Tanzania.

In a separate engagement, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan held discussions with General Jacob John Mukunda from Tanzania, accompanied by the Commanders of Land Forces and Navy Forces Command of the Tanzanian Peoples Defence Forces.
The meeting encompassed a wide array of topics, including strategic collaboration in defence equipment, technology, and a comprehensive roadmap for mutual cooperation.
The dialogue embraced multiple facets, extending from defence cooperation and maritime collaboration to structured training support, signifying a commitment towards fortified relations between the two nations.
As per defence officials, discussions revolved around a detailed roadmap aiming at fostering defence cooperation, maritime collaboration, and technology sharing, reinforcing the robust bond between India and Tanzania.
India-Tanzania relations have a longstanding history marked by deep friendship, robust economic ties, and extensive developmental partnerships.
These relations are further enriched by historical people-to-people linkages, rooted in centuries-old commercial exchanges, as emphasized by the Ministry of External Affairs.
