NIA Raids 19 Locations, Arrests 8 ISIS Operatives, Seizes Explosive Raw Materials
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 19 locations across four states, arresting eight operatives of the ISIS Ballari module and foiling their plans to carry out terror acts, especially IED blasts.
The arrested include the module’s leader, Minaz alias Md Sulaiman, and others from Ballari, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Jamshedpur.
The NIA teams seized explosive raw materials, weapons, unaccounted cash, and incriminating documents, along with digital devices. The accused had planned to use the explosive raw materials to fabricate IEDs for carrying out terror acts.
The NIA’s investigations revealed that the accused were in touch with one another via encrypted apps and were specifically targeting college students for recruitment.
The raids were conducted in close coordination with the state police forces and were part of the NIA’s efforts to destroy the ISIS anti-terrorist conspiracy against India.
The NIA has been conducting large-scale crackdowns and has busted various ISIS modules in recent months, resulting in the arrest of several terror operatives.
