New Delhi to Host 27th WAIPA World Investment Conference in India
Invest India, the apex National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency, is primed to host the 27th World Investment Conference (WIC) from December 11-14, 2023, at the India International Convention & Expo Centre – Yashobhoomi.
Under the theme “Empowering Investors: IPAs Pioneering Future Growth,” the event promises profound insights into the role of trade and investment in the Decade of Action.
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will headline the conference on December 13, delivering a keynote on the pivotal role of trade and investment. Goyal will also steer a closed-room roundtable of Private Equity and launch the Experience India Centre (EIC).
The EIC will utilize virtual and augmented reality, interactive screens, and projection mapping to showcase India’s offerings in services, technology, and products, offering a unique immersive experience.
The startups featured at EIC represent India’s burgeoning indigenous capabilities and its emerging global leadership.
The conference will also showcase traditions like Madhubani, Katha, Warli, and Mata ni Pachedi through exhibits like Bharat Today and the Living Traditions.
As the annual flagship event of WAIPA, WIC serves as a nexus for global investment promotion and innovation stakeholders. With over 1000 attendees, 50 IPAs, and various multilateral agencies participating, this WIC is poised to be the largest ever.
Key sessions include meetings of ‘IPAs of G20 Nations,’ IPAs of G20 Compendium on Sustainable FDI, and the World Investment for Development Alliance (WIDA).
The event will also feature a roundtable on “The India Opportunity: Investing in an Emerging Economy Poised for Fast-Track Growth.” Additionally, white papers on E-Commerce, Electronics, Sustainable textiles, and Responsible AI may be released by Invest India.
Trade and investment ministers from Saudi Arabia, Armenia, and Togo are expected to address the conference.
“The Startup-Investor Connect program” will facilitate connections between venture capital funds and international startups.
Aligned with the theme, the WIC will host parallel sessions focusing on Agri-Food Processing, Energy/Infrastructure, Tourism, Automotive, ICT/Technology, and Life Sciences.
These sessions will provide a detailed exploration of investment opportunities and trends across participating countries and select Indian States, showcasing India’s key initiatives like Make in India and PM Gati Shakti.
The World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies, established in 1995 in Geneva, with over 120 member agencies from more than 100 countries, serves as a vital bridge between the public and private sectors, empowering and supporting investment promotion agencies in their efforts to develop economies globally.
