Pakistani Court Orders Arrest of PML-N Leader Marriyum Aurangzeb in Hate Speech Casein Lahore, presided over by Judge Abher Gul Khan, issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Marriyum Aurangzeb, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), in connection with a hate speech case. The court directed the police to arrest Aurangzeb and present her before the court on December 9. The arrest warrant was issued due to her failure to appear before the court in relation to a terrorism case registered against her and others.

In a case involving Aurangzeb, Mian Javed Latif, and Pakistan Television’s Managing Director Sohail Khan, they are accused of attempting to incite hatred by using religious sentiments against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. The court had previously issued non-bailable arrest warrants against both Latif and Aurangzeb. However, Latif’s warrant was cancelled in the last hearing after he appeared before the court.

Aurangzeb’s Absence Prompts Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant

During the recent hearing, ATC Judge Khan inquired about the whereabouts of PML-N leaders Javed Latif and Marriyum Aurangzeb. While Latif had appeared, Aurangzeb had not, leading to the issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant for the former information minister. The court instructed all suspects named in the case to appear before it on December 9.

Advocate Farhad Ali Shah, representing Javed Latif and Marriyum Aurangzeb, appeared before the court. The judge set December 9 as the deadline for the prosecution to respond to Aurangzeb’s application seeking acquittal. In her plea, Aurangzeb maintained her innocence, stating that she played no role in incitement during her appearances on talk shows. She distanced herself from the allegations, requesting acquittal.
