    On the morning of Friday, the elevated areas of Kashmir witnessed a fresh bout of snowfall, while the plains received substantial rainfall, causing a notable decline in the maximum temperature.

    the high-altitude regions of the Valley, including Razdan Pass, Pir Ki Gali, Zojjila Pass, Sinthan Top, Sonamarg, and Gulmarg, encountered snowfall, while the lower-lying areas experienced a heavy downpour. Ongoing snowfall led to the closure of several key roads, such as Razdan, Zojjila, Kishtiwar-Anantnag, and Mugal, hampering traffic movement.Simultaneously, rainfall persisted in various other parts of the Kashmir Valley, contributing to a noticeable drop in the maximum temperature.

    The Meteorological Department (MeT) anticipates a gradual reduction in precipitation from late afternoon onward. An official remarked on the forthcoming weather conditions for the 11th to the 17th, suggesting predominantly dry weather and warmer days.The Kupwara administration issued a precautionary advisory due to the forecast of widespread light to moderate rain or snowfall on November 9th and 10th, 2023.

    Residents, especially those in areas like Keran, Karnah, Machil, Budnamal, Jumugund, Nowgam, Kumkadi, and those living near streams and rivers prone to landslides and flash floods, were cautioned to avoid these regions until weather conditions improve.Considering the snowfall, the Bandipora administration announced a suspension of vehicular traffic on the Gurez Bandipora road on November 10, 2023, as a preventive measure. The restriction will remain in place until the road is cleared by the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
